Our Bed & Breakfast is located in the historic Palazzo Santoro. The entrance, on the main street of Altamura, keeps its original door leading to the fascinating Neapolitan style atrium and its beautiful wooden press oak, the grindstone made of mazzaro stone and an underground cistern.
Altamura is situated in the Alta Murgia National Park, a land rich in history, nature and wine and food traditions. In the neighborhood you can visit the amazing Castel del Monte, the city of Matera, the European Capital of Culture 2019, the famous Trulli of Alberobello and the wonderful Salento. In Altamura, world famous for its bread, you can enjoy the traditional flavors of the Mediterranean tradition.
Altamura was founded again in the first half of the 13th century by the Emperor Federico II. In 1232, after his excommunication, he tried to make peace with the Establishment by building an outstanding Cathedral. Nido dei Falchi is just 50 meters far from the two Cathedral bell towers. In our numerous rooms you will live the history and myth atmosphere.

In particular, Sala dei Falconieri and Stanza dell'Astore have the medieval foundation walls and the planking level directly on the so-called “chianche” - a local limestone pavement that has been recovered.
Our rooms evoke memories of the history of Emperor Federico II. Every details has been recovered by the past: the ancient local terracotta with its warm shades, from yellow-earth to olive green; the grits and colored tiles, domes, archways and the details in tuff.
Our rooms take the name from the trained falcons, so loved by Federico II, who dedicated to falconry an essay called, "De ars venandi cum avibus".
Plasters and walls are in natural lime, to make the environment healthy and comfortable.
In many rooms and in the typical “claustri” surrounding them, the original draw-wells have been preserved, with their terracotta pipes. Doors and windows are, for the most part, the original in painted wood, restored with passion and meticulous care by experienced local craftsmen..
